Frequently asked questions

Everything below comes from how we actually operate. If something isn't here, message us on WhatsApp.

The trip

How long is the tour?

Two hours, from the moment we leave the dock to the moment we're back. We snorkel four different spots in that time.

What's included?

The four snorkel stops, brand-new snorkel tubes, masks and fins, bottled water and a bilingual guide. Hotel pickup is optional and can be added.

What's not included?

The dock fee, photo service, additional drinks, towels and tips.

What should I bring?

Swimsuit, towel, a change of clothes, cash for the dock fee, and biodegradable sunscreen. Regular sunscreen is not allowed in the National Park.

Are turtle sightings guaranteed?

No — they're wild animals and we won't promise what we can't control. We go looking on every departure and find them almost every single time. Our post-tour surveys run at 98% satisfaction.

Is there a restroom on board?

No. Our boats don't have one, so plan for that before we leave the marina. The trip is two hours.

Requirements

Do I need to know how to swim?

Yes. Being able to swim is required, and so is wearing the flotation vest we provide. You'll also need to climb the boat ladder on your own.

Is there an age limit?

Children from 5 travel at the child rate and must be accompanied by an adult. Insurance does not cover guests over 60 or children under 2 — you can arrange your own cover in Cancún if you'd like.

Who shouldn't join?

The activity isn't suitable if you're pregnant, have a heart condition, asthma or another medical impediment, or are under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

How much do children pay?

Ages 5 to 11 pay the child rate: 85 USD with hotel pickup, 75 USD without. They must be with an adult.

Getting there

Where do we leave from?

Marina Hacienda del Mar, on Carretera a Punta Sam in Puerto Juárez. Every departure leaves from there — check in with the crew at the dock.

Do you pick me up at my hotel?

Yes, if you book with transport. Pickup covers Costa Mujeres and Cancún's Hotel Zone. If you booked without it, adding transport later costs 10 USD (200 MXN).

What is the dock fee?

A marina charge of 20 USD (400 MXN) per person, paid on site at check-in — it is not part of the tour price. Card payments always settle in MXN.

What time do you leave?

Five departures every day of the year: 7:00, 9:00, 11:30, 14:00 and 16:30. Departures run even with small groups — there's no minimum.

Payment & policies

Can I cancel?

Yes. Full refund if you cancel up to 24 hours before your departure.

What happens if the weather turns?

If the port closes we reschedule you, or cancel with a full refund. Safety decisions are the captain's and the port authority's.

How do I pay?

Message us on WhatsApp to book and we'll confirm your spot and the payment options. The dock fee is always settled at the marina.

Can I bring my phone or camera?

You can, but we're not responsible for cameras, phones, glasses or any other personal items you decide to bring on board.

National Park rules

We snorkel inside a protected area, so: don't touch anything, biodegradable sunscreen only, don't dive below 2.5 m, don't throw anything overboard, don't touch the reef and don't feed the fish. Flotation equipment is mandatory, stay with the group, and follow your guide.
